• Static site generator: Hugo. It’s…okay. See this blog post for details. As of 2021 I’m honestly reasonably happy with it, as long as I stick with an older version of it (which for this particular technology is fine - ain’t nobody hacking a static website!)
  • Theme: heavily tweaked version of Beg, which I liked for its simplicity & built-in support for nested/dropdown menus.
  • HTTP server: Nginx, because its configuration syntax is more compact than Apache’s, and it’s typically faster too.
  • Operating system: Debian Linux, which I keep going back to despite forays into Arch, Ubuntu and so forth.
  • Infrastructure: Digital Ocean, replacing former use of Rackspace Cloud. DO feels like a straight upgrade while remaining significantly easier to grok than the big cloud giants like GCP or AWS.
